История одной из самых ярких групп диско-эры “Santa Esmeralda” началась в конце 1976 года, когда французский продюсер Nicolas Skorsky начал в парижской Studio Des Dames подготовку к записи нового диско-проекта. В середине 70-х годов французские музыканты и продюсеры Marc Cerrone, Alec R. Costandinos, Jacques Morali (продюсер групп “Village People” и “The Ritchie Family”) диктовали моду на мировом рынке танцевальной музыки. Nicolas Skorsky был известен во Франции как певец и автор песен, исполнявшихся французскими звёздами, одна из самых знаменитых - “Chanson Populare” которую пел Клод Франсуа (Claude Francois). Основной идеей нового проекта было соединение диско с ритмами фламенко. В качестве вокалиста и саксофониста был приглашён Лерой Гомез (Leroy Gomez) - американец, родом из штата Массачусетс.
